I think she will win the 200m ......although she will be pressed by others i think this is her better event and her class should come through.

The problem i see is fatigue. The final will be the sixth race within five days for Ekelund, Washington and Tenorio, and that may be a bit too much.

I would not anticipate any problems with her advancing to the final, but I note in looking at the SF heats that hers (SF 3) is the deepest, at least by examination of SB times. In SF 1 & 2, there are 2 each with 23.xx SB (though in SF 2, there is a third athlete with a PB of 23.xx -- just not this year). However, in SF 3 -- Ekelund's race, there are 4 @ 23.xx SB. They will of course at that point know how fast the first two SFs went, so this one might be considerably faster, and thus may require Ekelund to run faster in her SF than she might otherwise have needed to, had she been in one of the other SF races, that seem not quite as deep.

Now #8 performer on IAAF's a-t Youth list. #6 non-altitude.

She is also now #2 on Sweden's a-t list, behind Linda Haglund's 22.82 (from July 1979). (And #3 performance, behind Haglund's 22.90, from 1980.) Barring misfortune, it looks like sometime soon Sweden will have a new NR in this event, after (at this point) 34 years.

Irene was very impressive in Donetsk, if Ariana Washington had been healthy it would have been a different race...Washington was about 80%, she was nursing groin and hamstring. It was remarkable for her to medal in condition she was in.
