How do you figure?

If someone runs a 10.00 100m, what would his time be for 100yds.Also if someone ran a 10.00 100m on dirt what would he have run on the great fast tracks we have now? Tell me how you figure it.

A 10.00 sprinter is usually splitting around .85 - .87 per 10 meters toward the end (already decelerating), and there's 91.44 meters per 100 yards so the math comes out to about -.74 seconds which means 9.26 for 100y. The dirt track is impossible to do, but a really hard packed one can be pretty fast, maybe .1 seconds diff? So a 10.00 on dirt might be 9.16 or about 8.9 hand-timed, which someone did run once, Graddy?

But I could be wrong.

Then has anyone run a legit 9.0 100yds even during a 100m race. I know that 9.21 is the fasts 100yds auto time.

The Little Red Book (yeah, I keep the old ones) said the 100y to 100m conversion is add .85, so reverse it (subtract .85) to get 100y from 100m.

It also said that the conversion from hand-timed 100y to auto-timed 100m is add 1.07. Our current WR would then be equal to a manual 8.71, which would be rounded up to 8.8.
