At the lowest point, Harrison wandered the streets at night alone, because only his wife, Charlotte, and four kids, including Highley, who is now 5 months old, were allowed to stay at the San Diego Rescue Mission. Now they're staying at the YWCA Cortez Hill shelter as a family and, despite it all, trying to stay positive.
Sadly, this apparently isn't the first time he has been homeless. When he and his brother were ripping things up in high school down in Salinas we heard at the time that they were living out of the back of a car.

And in this economy there is not a bright future. It must be especially hard when you have a family to support.
In Wisconsin it's currently 10F. What is the weather in SD? But there might well be cheaper 'warm' places. But do they have better shelters and food pantries?

Daisy, you are being generous, it was 5 when I rode in this morning and is only 6 now. Maybe it hits 10 but our daily high is going to be the 20 it was at 12:01 last night. Being homeless here is a lot more dangerous than in SD, although that means that there are fewer congregating here and more shelters (even if some are temporary for the coldest days). That does not make the Harrisons's any easier for them.
Did he or his brother attend college, and if so, why didn't they get a degree and make an attempt at a career away from track? Athletes in track must be more realistic than athletes in other sports. A track career is usually short and far less lucrative. I mean, go into track with your eyes open. Unless you're Carl Lewis or Usain Bolt or a few others, work on that degree!
Well, maybe the Harrison brothers thought they would be Lewis and Bolt.

Hiring people who've had 2-year international bans for a drug offense? Methinks not so much (as irrelevant as taking Modafinil might be to working with the general public).
Any child who doesn't choose the right parents starts out with two strikes against them. I know, I know, we don't choose our parents and that's what makes life so unfair.

Perhaps in southern Wisconsin, it was. 140 miles north of Madison, it was -5F yesterday.

I remember CJ Hunter getting a job at NCSU as a strength coach, I wonder if he's still there?

that may be but he spent half the Berlin closing party sleazing over one particular member of the uk team, he literaly wouldn't leave her alone despite the fact she was really uncomfortable but too polite to tell him where to go. which of course i did for her

Diane Dixon was begging for a reference from Governor Patterson in order to get a 40K/year job. And she's clean!
