Tyson Gay's Throwback Uniform (1936 inspired)

I like it! I wish we could see stuff like this more often. I enjoy it when MLB teams don the throwback uniforms and it works in track as well.

Who knows? I might be temped to check out stuff online if I knew that track-nerds were chatting about my sprinting prowess.

What made the throwback even better for me is the fact that I am NOT a fan of the current adidas speedsuit (with the skeleton look on the back side).

What would be some other good ideas for a throwback uniform in track?

Some other athletes do, as well as Carter:s father and Spearmon:s father. Even non-USA athletes read these boards (Stefan Holm, for example).

I like the retro look as well, but it goes back to the 1928 Olympic uniform.

That was the first time the national uni had changed. Before that it had been the U.S. shield, with a blue field with stars above the red and white vertical stripes. That uniform was first used in 1906, at the Athens Games.

Gay was paying a tribute to Jesse Owens

Classy and nice looking uniforms that Gay was wearing. Is there any way that Nike could hire the designer away from adidas so that we no longer have to look at the Nike monstrosities? I'm am so sick of these stupid looking Nike uniforms, especially these hideous black and white "things" at the trials.

What is surprising about Nike is that when they do soccer unis, they honor the tradition and history of the nation they are designing unis for -- down to the font of the numbers and letters. But for TnF, they really drop the ball. Just goes to show that when it comes to pure class in athletics apparel and footwear, Adidas is still the best.

I agree Gay's suits were very cool to see!

What was Richards wearing? Do those sleeves provide some advantage or just simply style?

I know that a lot of time has passed, but has anyone found a way to purchase the Jesse Owens "Throwback" singlet that Tyson Gay wore in his 2008 200m race at the Olympic Trials in Eugene? It was the loose-fit, v-neck singlet. White with the brilliant red and blue diagonal stripes. I have been dying to get my hands on one to wear for races ever since then, but have never found one.

Possibly at usatf.org. They sell some similar t-shirts, singlets, etc.
