I hadn't noticed. News From Poland has more views...

That is the key. So our potential champions can concentrate on the real goals. I'm pretty sure that does give them an advantage.
At least this year Gay can relax at the US trials knowing he is preselected.

Jodie Williams ran 11.48 into a -1.7m/s wind to win the England U20 title! That's roughly 11.34 basic, or 11.22 with a maximum 2.0m/s wind. In perfect conditions, she is in form to challenge the UK junior 100m record (11.27), even though she'll still be a junior throughout 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012
That's an astounding run...I wonder if she could make the Worlds team- or if they'd even select her/she'd want to go...
I have to say, I wish our sprinters would perk up this year. They've been coming on in recent years and I thought this might be the year they took a step forward- and ok, I'm still banking on Kwayke, but the rest of them seem to have gone downhill....!
Women's 400mh u23 Champs
1.Perri Shakes-Drayton 55.34 (PB, Berlin A standard)
2.Eilidh Child 55.36 (PB, Berlin A standard)
Impressive. Particularly from PSD who DESTROYED her PB having been outside of 55 and even 56 this season. If Danvers gets back in shape there could be two Brits in the final, certainly 3 in the semis!
Jodie Williams, still just 16, ran 22.79 over 200m today in Loughborough, beating the likes of '07 European junior champ Hayley Jones, and Joice Maduaka. If the wind is legal, it's a new British youth and U17 record. It'll also be the second fastest ever by a British junior, after the 22.70 Kathy Cook ran at age 19 with a +1.9 wind and Mexico's altitude.
Also, if it is wind legal, it breaks Grit Breuer's European age-16 best of 23.04 set 22 years ago.
The world all-time age-16 list is: 22.58 (0.8) Marion Jones (USA) New Orleans, LA 1992 22.77A (0.0) Chandra Cheeseborough (USA) Mexico City 1975 22.79 (2.0) Jodie Williams (GBR) Loughborough 2010 22.83 (-1.3) Allyson Felix (USA) Norwalk, CA 2002 22.94 (-0.2) Anneisha McLaughlin (JAM) Kingston 2002
Pretty impressive company. Interesting to see what the rest of the season holds for her.

i would think it very wise to wait for the wind readings which were very frisky at Loughborough this afternoon. Any way, who trusts good old Luffra wind gauges?. JW is a future talent without a doubt but at 16 years of age we ought to wait and see. Too many Brit women of a young age disappeared without trace, after showing outstanding promise.
How long before we get a wind reading.? Should be immediately available, surely.

The timing/wind equipment at the Loughborough International meeting is pretty standard. It's the Loughborough EAP meeting (held later in the year) that uses the different timing/wind equipment that produces the funky results, including the bogus UK women's 100m NR.

There are no live results as such for this meet - I've just been following the updates on the UKA twitter feed. As handy as the updates (and videos) are, unfortunately they haven't been quite so on top of providing the wind readings. I'm sure it won't be too long though.
It's a fantastic time, but interesting to see her result amongst the other age 16 bests and the wind reading stands out.
I really would love to see her progress to absolute world elite, but this isn't the US; in the UK, talents at that age just tend to peak too early or drift away into obscurity...
I saw a quote on a website about her focussing on World Juniors and not rushing into racing in the open ranks. Taking her time to develop etc. Technically she looks very sound which is the most exciting bit as there are no massive faults to fix, she doesn't seem overly developed for a girl her age and her 100m and 200m times are nicely matched.
Fingers crossed the UK athletics community can carefully manage this potential star.

This is what makes me especially excited about her. She's tall but not partiularly muscular a lot of our other prodigeys have just been very well developed at a very young age and have not improved as they got older. Things seem different with miss williams and ever the optimist i am predicting big things
