I guess US marathoning is better than I thought. I had predicted P Diddy would be the first US man.

Tough last 10km for Wells. Not sure what the 2:28:33 is. It is called "net time". It is way off for a lot of people but close for others.

"Twenty minutes into the race, Julio Rey of Spain has turned his ankle at an elite athlete fluid station and has been forced to drop out. He appears to be in a great deal of pain and his ankle is visibly swollen. This is an unfortunate turn of events for the 2003 World Championships silver medallist. With a lead group this large, maneuvering the fluid stations, where the elite athletes can pick up their own individual bottles of special fluids, can be particularly treacherous."

ouch. Hurts even more when you're peaking for a huge race and something like that bites you.
