Does anyone have any
>information regarding Michael Johnson's 100m
>splits for his world record 400m? Also, any
>ideas on the best way to set up a 400?
Both 50m & 100m splits of this race are displayed in the link below:

MJ's 100m Splits were (from the Biomechanical Analysis Splits Research Team within the Sevilla WCH'99);
RT: 01.50s (0.15s)
100m: 11.10s (11.05s)
200m: 21.22s (10.12s)
300m: 31.66s (10.44s)
400m: 43.18s (11.52s)
I would say the best ways to 'set up a 400m race' is to go out hard for the first 200m of the race, coast the next 100m, and give it 'all you have' in the final 100m.
But avoid trying to go out too fast in the first 200m, or you body will pay in the homestraight.
