100M MEN WORLD ATHLETICS FINAL

Postby Guest » Fri Sep 12, 2003 1:50 pm

Asafa Powell, Justin Gatlin & John Capel have all been listed as starters in the 100m men in Monaco, All questions raised since the World Championship Final will finally be answered. Who will win? My vote - Powell -

My money is on Gatlin. In my mind he is the best sprinter in the world and has a very bright future.

I'm afraid the questions will remain. Greene and Montgomery's disappearance is more than 'they are over the hill.' Next year's Oly Final will answer the questions.

In order to get to Athens, they will have to get through Sacramento which will be brutal.

Aren't we forgetting Kim Collins? Gatlin is great but his start is inconsistent. Powell is indeed looking excellent...

Collins will lead to 60 meters, Powell will pass him, only to be passed by Gatlin at 80. Final time: 10.01.

Guys I'd like to say Gatlin but this Chatman guy keeps talking about wiping the track with Gatlin.

I guess I'll go with Gatlin but it will be a tight one with Powell.

The life of an international track star: after the 100 meters today, Collins will fly to London for an interview on a TV breakfast program, then fly back here to Monaco for the Gala tomorrow night.

In the Athleticslinks contest, 2 participants out of 48 had Williams in 1st.

If someone did pick him, we are in no danger of his/her winning the contest, because obviously he/she was grasping at long shots.

Nice race by Emedolu. He finally got a good start. He's usually left in the blocks and then strains too hard to catch up. He and Campbell were the only two athletes to make the final in both the 100 and 200 in Paris.

I saw the race on BBC. It was pretty even between Capel, Powell and Williams up to 75 when Powell's right hamstring seemed to go. Good race, B. Williams looked smooth for the first in a long time.

Williams won one of the toughest 100s of the season just a couple of weeks ago--his WC semi. Too bad he and Gatlin are so inconsistent. (The most consistent US 100 men? Capel and Drummond.)

Gatlin inconsistent? For someone who had a PB of 10.08 prior to this season, I wouldn't consider him inconsistent. For someone who has only gone sub 10 once, I wouldn't consider him inconsistent. For someone who's best event is the 200m, I wouldn't consider him inconsistent.

So the question is: did we like this season better where no one could dominate? Or do we like one big dog with lots of pups nipping at his heels. I for one liked the mystery that was this year's men's 100. Even though we had to give up the great times. The men's 1500 this year was BORING. El G wins, but no great times.

We all know the americans sprinter, have taken so heat since this past world outdoor championship, so lets see what Dwight Phillips do this outdoor, season, and also Gatlin ,Caple,Miller,Williams,Tim if he can find the right frame of mine,Green if he can come in shape,Trammel, and also Crawford. We have the best spinters in the world , but they have to be ready for the moment.
