Looks like the U.S. did the smart thing in putting John Capel on the leadoff 'curve' leg instead of Phillips, and they dipped under 38 in the semi's.

Note that Ato Boldon's Trinidad & Tobago team missed out on moving on to the finals, perhaps depriving Boldon, who was given 2nd-leg duty, of his last opportunity for a WC medal. He's had a very respectable career, although overshadowed most of the time by HSI teammate Mo Greene.
