Joe Vigil undergoes heart bypass

Correspondent Walt Murphy has provided good news regarding a report T&FN first heard Monday that distance coach Joe Vigil had suffered a heart attack.

T&FN would like to extend best wishes for a speedy (same way his runners perform) recovery to Coach Vigil.

Joe Vigil, the former Adams State coach who is currently in charge of Team
USA California (and the coach of Deena Drossin, among others) underwent
successful triple bypass surgery Tuesday morning and is resting comfortably
at the Sharps Medical Center in Chula Vista,CA.

Vigil's family has requested that any get-well notes be directed to:

Chula Vista, CA 91915

Doctors have requested no phone calls for a week to allow adequate time for
recovery.
