Belarus, new throws superpower

Postby Half Miler » Mon Aug 25, 2003 5:35 pm

So, we've had three of the weight finals contested so far, and let's see...Belarus 3 golds, all other nations 0.

Oh, and Vasiliy Kaptyukh is currently 2nd in Discus qualifying with 65.76. I'm not saying he'll beat Alekna, Riedel, Fazekas et al., but you never know.

The Americans could use tips on how to peak from the Belarussians (oh, that's right, their darned selection meet was like, 2 months ago. Dang!)

And what's Belarus's all-time record in doping DQs? About 3 for 3?

And what are the chances that any post on this board will degenerate into more drug accusations?

It drives me f***ing crazy.

Let's just assume everyone is on something and leave it at that.

I think there's a drug you can take for that. :)

There's no accusations; far as I know, the best defense against slander/libel is the truth, and the truth is that Belarus has a very sorry record in this department. To suggest that mastering peaking is the secret to their success is a bit of a canard, don't you think? (Not to mention that any "trials" they had would have been a perfunctory show-up meet, with the team already known.)

Qué?
So, how is this not an accusation?

I think you misunderstood my point. I assume everyone is using something, okay? Let's say it's likely SOME OTHER nations (include dear ol' USA) have throwers who are using. It's still remarkable that Belarus has won every weight event so far.

(to distract posters from the drug angle, let me digress into hyperbole about Usain Bolt and Alan Webb...)

Hey, how about Usain Bolt and Alan Webb!

Bolt will dominate the 200, winning by 5 meters in 19.29 while easing up at the line!!!!!!

Alan Webb is finished! Do you hear me? He's washed up, I tell ya!

Ahem.
Did I mention what kindhearted folk the Belarussians are?
