As I said in another thread, there are currently FIVE contests out there now. This was my call-out to my fellow posters for a 'Message Board' championship. I guess no one else is awake or they haven't sat down to fill out their form chart yet.

Here ya go...I have to admit that, on some of them that were a "toss-up", I just went against tafnut's (and/or T&FN's) picks--to make things interesting. BUT that was only on the one's that I really didn't have a good guess for. Most of these I'm pretty confident in (provided they are still scheduled to compete in Paris).

Are you actually going to do the scoring for this 'contest' and announce the results afterwards?

Absofreakinlutely. I'm not too worried - there won't even be 10 entries. BWAAAACK! Whoever the winner is, I will start a thread entitled "[Yourname] is THE Track Expert" and you will enjoy fame and glory until the thread goes south.

I noticed the T&FN online formcharts list Bekele winning both the 5 & 10, but according to http://www.iaaf.org/WCH03/news/Kind=2/newsId=22215.html, Bekele is only running the 10.

I didn't think we were allowed to look at that board. See guideline number 10.

I think you misinterpreting rule #10. You may look at their board, but you are not allowed to post anything there. Of course, why would you voluntarily give up 20 IQ points, anyway?

This board and darkwing(right now) will periodically talk about why we can't get any fan support. If the elitists here feel that they are so much above the typical letsrun type, how will they feel rubbing shoulders with a stadium full of people who usually go to Nascar or watch Survivor if we managed to get the sport to that level of fan support. You'd be longing for the good old days of empty stands.

Which is why I said, in the 'what's wrong with track' thread: be careful what you wish for, because it might come true. This is like the old sour grapes attitude about money. 'Rich people's lives are more miserable, because money corrupts.' To which I say, 'well, can I try it anyway?'

I'd like to see what it'd be like if track were more mainstream. But you're right, we might not like what we see. And no, I have never gone to NASCAR; if that's elitist, so be it, but I really don't see the appeal. Put your foot down and turn left. [Now Bubba, I was just joshing, put the gun down]

Put me down as an elitist and proud of it. We apparently have a casino that was built in our hometown a few years ago and I can safely say that I will never darken the door-dittoes on Nascar, football(both of them), baseball, etc. I just have a hard time lording over the letsrun types, especially the Johnson boys.

OK, good call, 11pm PDT. (not that the 200 heats are going to reveal anything).

BTW, I have since changed my mind about the men's 5000 - I think Bekele is going to win the double, but I won't change my pick, bad sportsmanship.
