Jason Lunn is going to be the only American. This makes me sad.

It is the first time in history only one American 1500 meter runner is going to the World Championships. This is a low point equal to the time the US could only send two Marathoners to the 2000 Olympic games.
There is just nobody good enough in the US to replace either Holman or Pyrah in the 1500.
If Lunn makes the finals it will the highlight of his career.
Lets at least give Lunn some support.

What happened to the talented Tim Broe this year.

Didn't he win a national championship?

Broe is not really a 1500m runner and he won the national championship at 5000m. Unfortunately he hurt his back, doesn't have a qualifier and couldn't chase the time because of the injury.

I believe Broe broke Steve Scott's indoor 3000 meter record last year. He is the only "active" US distance runner who has any kind of record to his name.

I has not been a good year for US distance running.

Kennedy is still active - 13:22 this summer.

Kennedy has been the best US distance runner since the 90's. I believe he is the only Non-African who has a sub 13:00 5000 meters.

A 13:22 is impressive considering how much time he has taken off. There is no reason why he can't run a 13:10 by next year.

Question:
Wasn't Kennedy a competitive 1500-meter runner in college?

Nope! Germany's Deiter "Sprockets" Baumann also turned the trick.

Depends on what you mean by "competitive". He was by NCAA standards, but not even close by international standards.
