Is the A race supposed to be faster than the B race?

Jeez, too bad they didn't put all the big guns in the same race. Gatlin v Capel would have been interesting.

After running poorly at Nationals, then having only a 10.32 to his credit in Europe, Gatlin was obviously calcualted as not good enough for their loaded field. The rough life of being a meet promoter, having to make these kinds of guesses. I wouldn't have let him in if it were my race. (On the other hand, not sure I'd have let Capel in either, even if he did have a 10.02 PR in Greece a few days back.)

Good points. He probably didn't deserve to be in the A race considering. It's great to see him back anyhow. I had this image of him being haunted by this injury for the rest of his career.

I'm not 100% sure, but didn't Gatlin test positive for steroids a few years back?

TopFlight:you're pushing the envelope here. If it were one intemperate post it would be one thing, but two expletive-laden missives on the same subject? Chill out please.

Medical science says you can't make up more than an hour a day when you change timezones, no matter how much you tell yourself you can resist jetlag.

w/ major Euro trip coming up, i'm on my usual jag of getting up earlier and earlier every morning so that by the time I get there I'll have knocked several of the 9 hours off already, enhancing my meet-viewing pleasure.

The other secret is that when in Europe, you push your envelope the other way to meet it: stay up and party until about 06:00 every morning, sleep till noon. You can go weeks that way. :-)

BGB says that's worth 10.01 with zero wind.

I guess Montgomery was a bit too optimistic. This is what he had to say yesterday:

"The stadium is fast...after today, what I've done today in practice, I know I can run under 9.87 tomorrow," said Montgomery. "Just give me good weather, no rain, tailwind, and everything is going to take care of itself."

Men's 100m Final: Coming back from injury Justin Gatlin records an impressive win!! He got off to a great start, Tim Montgomery looked to have lost his stamina come the 80m mark and trails behind!!

How does that equate to Chambers 10.08 into -1.6?
Looks like Monty has had it. This has to be the weirdest 100m year ever. If Mo isn't injured he gets my vote now.

That's OK, Garry. I get called worse from my wife.

TF, you say Gatlin first injured himself at Tennessee. That may be true; I don't know. But it didn't stop him from winning SIX NCAA titles.

The point I'm making here is that Gatlin should not be dissing Vince Anderson and Vince's coaching, which is no doubt superior to Trevor Graham's. Most here have agreed with this.
