Hammer guys are not in bad shape at all! They just were not competing so much outside of Belarus.

By the way, it's interesting that Tikhon and Devyatovskiy are listed as 2008 Olympic medalists on Belarus Federation's website

Why not? They had their medals reinstated in 2010.

Yes, nothing particularly unusual here.

In '03 he didn't throw until August 8, then in second meet won WC gold on August 23.

In '08 he threw twice in July before winning Oly bronze in August.

He did have 7 meets before last year's WC though.
