Cordner, Track & Field Misses You

We at Track & Field News regret to report the passing today, October 26, of our co-founder Cordner Nelson, at his home in Carmel, California.

Cordner was 91 years old and had been in ill health for some months battling cancer.

In July of 2008, almost 200 of Cordner's friends gathered at the Olympic Trials in Eugene for a gala 90th birthday celebration. It was to be the last track meet for Cordner whose resume included attending 15 Olympic Games and witnessing countless world records.

Cordner started Track & Field News with his brother Bert in 1948.
